Bryce Cuts his First Tooth
No pictures or videos on this one. Bryce does not perform, and he seems to take considerable exception to getting any pictures of his gums. But after what seemed like ages of teething, that first little tooth popped its head out and said hi the other day. I can't wait until his big grin if filled with little teeth. Those of you that we'll see during the Christmas holidays (which I believe is most of you) might get a look at his tooth, or at the very least feel it.

Bryce's First Christmas Party
CJ's (Angel's mom) boyfriend's company threw a Christmas party geared towards kids this past Saturday. It was Bryce's first. And even though we couldn't convince Blake to play any of the games they had there, I think he had some fun too.
Posted below is Bryce's very first sit down with ol' Saint Nick. I was quite surprised. Here lately he has shown significant stranger anxiety and we were certain he would freak out on a large scale as soon as he hit Santa's lap. Quite the contrary, Bryce seemed nonplussed to be there and even made an effort to peek underneath Santa's big white beard.
There are two conclusions that can be drawn here. Either Bryce just really likes hair and wanted to grab a handful, or he is a genius and has already deduced the truth about Santa and had plans to unmask him for all the children to see. I leave you to draw your own conclusion.

Bryce and his Cuisine
Thus far in his development, Bryce has been quite picky when it comes to his solid food. It is slow going finding something that he enjoys because we have been instructed by the doctor to feed him each flavor at least 3 days in a row before moving on so we can be certain he is not allergic to anything we try. Thus far, we have tried apple sauce, bananas, sweet potatoes & carrots. Only the carrots were met with undoubtable enthusiasm. The others were mostly negative, with some relative ambivalence expressed towards the sweet potatoes. We will post some of the reactions here. First, the apple sauce:
Clearly a negative reaction. This surprised us because who doesn't like applesauce? Well, I guess our son. At any rate, he struggled through the sauce for 3 days and then we moved on to bananas. There is no video of the banana experiment, but suffice it to say there was a good deal of grimacing and gagging going on during it. So we moved on. Sweet potatos were next:
The video makes it look like he hated it. That was before we heated it up. After that, he seemed okay with the stuff. Still, not great. The next try was carrots:
Much more of the type of reaction we were hoping for. So now if he never likes anything else, we can give him carrots every day for the rest of his young life. If we do that, by the time he is 8 he will be able to see into the future. Here is a video review by Bryce himself explaining his feelings on carrots and their relative benefits.
And here is Bryce's typed review that he will type in himself right now:

Hello
Hello every one! We are very excited. Blake has his Christmas choir concert coming up Thursday, December 6 at 8:30 am and 6:30 pm. Matt has been working a lot of hours this week and will be working a lot in the coming weeks. He says, and I quote, " Christmas is coming and 2+2=4." I think working so much has made him crazy. Oh wait he has always been crazy! We all miss him around here, but we love him for working so hard to take care of us. Bryce has another ear infection. He is on a different antibiotic and is starting to feel better. The boys are just growing so fast! We had to buy Blake some new pants and Bryce is already in 9 months! When I took him to the Dr. for his ear he was 16 lbs. 3.5 oz. We can hardly wait for the Christmas holidays to see all of our family. We love and miss you!
Edit by Matt: Fixed the comma madness. The quote up above, while technically accurate, does not come close to portraying my feelings on 2+2 and its impacts to society. Also, I find the picture in this post is infinitely more enjoyable if you imagine Bryce asking "I can has cookie?" while looking at it.

The great foot - food debate!
Hello!
Hello everyone! Sorry it has been so long since our last post, but both of the boys have been sick. Blake had a virus and missed a whole week of school. Bryce had his first ear infection and is still on antibiotics. So I have been a very busy mom with that. On a lighter note, Blake has a wonderful fundraiser going on to raise money for the music program at his school. They are going to be recording a music CD! They did this two years ago and made a Christmas CD. I was there to help out with the recordings and the kids just love doing this! The entire school participates in this event, and since Blake is in choir he will be singing in two extra songs. The theme this year is "Road Trip USA". This is a professional grade CD. Dozens of digital photos will also be taken during the recording sessions and go on the CD in the form of a slide show. They have DNS Records of Dallas coming out to record this. The price for each CD is $16. You can also place a personal or business ad that will appear inside each CD cover. Prices range from $16 to $48 depending on what type of ad you choose. For more info contact me or Matt. The orders are due by Friday, November 9, 2007.

Bryce Rolled Over!
No pictures this time. But yesterday while Angel was cooking dinner, Bryce was lying on his back playing with his gym and toys. When she walked back into the room, he was on his belly. It was the first completely unassisted rollover he has done that we know of. He has been rolling from his stomach to his back for a while now, but not from back to stomach. We are attempting to get a video of it, but it seems he does not perform for audiences. Still, a milestone to be sure, and one we thought we would share with everyone out there! If we get a video of Bryce rockin' and rollin', we'll be sure to post it on the site here, or at least get some pictures.

Sleeping Brothers
Well it was spoken too soon, Blake missed his first day of school on Friday. He had to go to the Dr. and he has a cold, as do all of us. The Dr. wanted him to get a flu shot and needless to say he was not very happy about that at all! We are all starting to feel a little bit better. This weekend we had a garage sale and I asked Blake to keep an eye on Bryce, when I walked back into the room this is what I saw. How cute is that!
